Week 1 - Oceans and Climate

This week aims to introduce you to the basic concepts of how earth observation data is acquired from satellites, the underlying science that enables this and what it can help us to do.

Week 2 - Oceans, Weather and Hazards

A look at the role of oceans in weather and climate and weather and wave forecasting, as well as how we can predict the impact of sea level rise.

Week 3 - Ocean Transport and Hazards

This week looks at ocean transport and circulation, oil spill monitoring and ocean salinity, as well as ice and icebergs.

Week 4 - Living Oceans

How weather and climate affect phytoplankton, and the role of phytoplankton in the carbon cycle and measuring biodiversity.

Week 5 - Open Data and Emerging Data Services

This final week of the course focuses on policy, socio-economics, citizen science, renewable energy potential within the oceans and the future of Earth observation.
